I was invited to shoot three episodes of Inside Art with director Richard Shaw. The first episode we produced was filmed at The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield. The format combines interview segments and pieces to camera with Kate, alongside general views of the gallery and examples of exhibited works, captured using either a slider or a gimbal.
This format is repeated for each gallery, featuring different experts and exhibitions. The other two episodes were filmed at the Manchester Art Gallery and the Derek Jarman Protest! exhibition at The Whitechapel Gallery, located on the north side of Whitechapel High Street in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
While matching the existing series format, I leaned on portable, color-tunable LED fixtures with built-in grids for light control. These lights allowed for quick deployment and could emulate the existing gallery lighting to create a broadcast-lit look that seamlessly integrated into the architecture of each space.
