Over the past five years, I’ve worked extensively with Evolution Power Tools in a lighting and camera operator role, supporting their in-house team in producing a wide variety of branded content. From product demonstrations and tutorials to social media campaigns and brand documentaries, my role has been to elevate the technical and visual standards of Evolution’s video output while staying true to strict corporate brand guidelines.
Working closely with in-house director Paul Hunter, I’ve contributed to shaping the brand’s evolving visual style—often with limited resources, but always with a focus on improving image quality, clarity, and brand storytelling. Though one of several freelance and in-house operators involved in the content strategy, I’ve brought a consistent visual approach that complements the diversity of Evolution’s product range and global audience.
Behind the Scenes
This ongoing collaboration has taken me to a broad range of locations—from on-site builds with skilled tradespeople across the UK to filming content in Evolution’s dedicated studio in Sheffield. I’ve also travelled to the USA, working with creators like Doug from Artfully Rogue in Arizona, and have captured live content from events like Makers Central at the NEC.
Each project requires a blend of agile, run-and-gun shooting and precision-controlled studio setups. To match the demands of both, I’ve worked primarily with the Sony FX6 and FX3, using the DJI RS 3 Pro for stabilised sequences. Lens choices include Sony G Master primes for detail and tone, as well as DZOFilm Catta Zooms for fast-paced, on-the-fly flexibility.
The result is a large and ever-growing library of content that balances clear, functional communication with a cinematic, professional finish—supporting Evolution’s mission to inform, inspire, and empower their global customer base.
